New kitchen countertops are probably something that you are looking forward to if you are going through a kitchen remodel. You will enjoy having new countertops, as they will make a huge difference in your kitchen that you will love. You should also know more about kitchen countertops as well.

There's more to your countertops that beauty, all though of course that plays an important role in your choices too. When choosing your kitchen countertops you need to consider both what you need and what you can affords. And of course functionality is very important!

Your countertop needs to be:

1. Easy to maintain and clean

2. Durable

3. Stain resistant

4. Scratch resistant

5. Heat resistant

6. A dcor that matches your kitchen

Now finding all these qualities in one product might be a bit difficult but combining different materials depending on the area in the home. It makes for some interesting dcor, it's more affordable, and it's very practical.

For example perhaps granite around the sink but then use laminates for the balance of the countertop. Or granite looks great on an island with the balance of the counter done in laminate. So what are your options?

1. Natural Stone

This is a very functional option but it's also a very expensive option. You can use all kinds of stone options - marble, limestone, soapstone, granite, and slate - each have their own pros and cons.

Each piece of stone has its own unique pattern which makes it extremely appealing. It's also scratch resistant, heat resistant, and very durable. You do however need to maintain it regularly.

2. Stainless Steel

This is an extremely functional option and you can use it anywhere in the kitchen. It integrates nicely and it's easy to clean and maintain. It's neutral color means it fits anywhere, there's no maintenance, and it's waterproof and heat resistant which is why it's so popular in the food industry. It is prone to scratching and fingerprints, and it can be dented if it isn't installed on a firm enough base.

3. Concrete

Concrete is really affordable and it offers more flexibility then most any other material allowing the ability to build unusual shapes. It's easy to work with and can be polished, painted, or even textured....
