...2. Find the center of your countertop and draw your line. Your sink will come with a template. The template will go over the center line.

3. Tape the template down and trace around it.

4. Now get your jig saw out your drill. Drill a pilot hole to give you a start point for cutting out your opening with the jig saw.

5. As you near the end you need to support your cutout so it doesn't start to sag. You can do this with a couple of nails.

Mortar Underlayments and Concrete Backerboard

1. Countertops are exposed to water regularly so you can give yourself some extra protection by installing a concrete backerboard over the plywood. Wondering what backerboard is? It's a concrete core that has fiberglass on both sides and it can't be damaged by water.

2. You won't be able to do your cutout with a sink. You'll need to use a nail punch and score an outline with a utility knife. Then use your nail punch will break along the scored line.

Tiling

1. You're ready to begin lying your tile.

2. Start in the center and work your way out.

3. Score your edge tiles as needed.

4. When you are satisfied with the layout you can apply your adhesive.

5. After it has set up you can begin laying your tiles.

6. Let tiles set for about 72 hours and then apply your grout.

That's it. Tiling countertops isn't nearly as complicated as you might have thought.
